I wish to correct an error I made in my last post, "Biblical Wednesday." The name of the Hindu Monkey God is actually Hanuman, who was a boon companion of Rama, an avatar of the god Vishnu. Hanuman assisted Rama with his war against the Rakshasa king Ravana and helped to rescue Rama's consort, Sita. The full story can be found in the Hindu epic
The Ramayama.
A biography about Hanuman's life and exploits can be found
here.
PS: An avatar is an earthly embodiment of a god. Other famous avatars include
Krishna,
Jesus Christ, and the illusionist
David Copperfield.
